7. DATASET OVERVIEW

7.1 Abstract

In 1987, JMA started the monitoring of atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) at Ryori (RYO) for the first time in Japan as a Regional Station of WMO Global Atmosphere Watch (GAW). JMA observes atmospheric greenhouse gases at three GAW stations (Ryori (RYO), Minamitorishima (MNM) and Yonagunijima (YON)) and in the mid-troposphere over the northwestern pacific by the aircraft (C-130H).
