7.1 Abstract

The observation data of geostationary meteorological satellite Himawari-8 and 9 are archived. Whole observation consits of 10-minute interval full-disk observation* and 2.5-minute interval Japan area observation and 2.5-minute interval target area observation**.

* The whole observation of round shape earth which can be seen from the satellite.

** Focused area observation which is targetted to mainly tayhoon and volcanic erruption.

Please note that the data before 7 July 2015, when Himawari-8 became operational, is not verified by Japan Meteorological Agency. Those data are not suitable for processing as physical quantity.

Please note that the Himawari-9 data before 13 December, 2022, which is planed the switchover date from Himawari-8 to Himawari-9, is not verified by Japan Meteorological Agency. Please understand that these data may be missing.

Whenever this data set is used for any academic presentations, and any publications of scientific results, please specify the acknowledgement.
